I recently had the chance to play a small music salon and share a few original songs. “Dear daughter “is one of them, and I wanted to share it here with this community.
Even though the title is Dear Daughter, the song is not only about a biological child. When I wrote it, I was thinking about many ways we hold and care for one another — our children, our younger selves, our nieces and nephews, students, friends, and the tender places in each other that need encouragement.
To me, it’s a song about belonging, resilience, and the love that helps us stand back up when life inevitably knocks us around.
I hope it feels like something you can receive — whether you’re nourishing your own inner child, loving a young person in your life, or simply remembering that we’re all learning as we go.
These same things of care, resilience, and tending to ourselves, and one another are part of what draws me to practices like Reiki.
